Medha Anneswan 2026

RULES & REGULATIONS


  • The 10th annual music competition based on Indian Classical Music – an initiative by Sutanuti Parishad Chorebagan Anchal in association with Anindya Mitra Trust for Music.
  • The competition is comprising 3 [three sections] namely-- Percussion [03.12.2026], Vocal [04.12.2026] & Instrument [05.12.2026] and will commence from 2.00 p.m. each day.
  • The competition will be held at Uday Shankar Mancha – Jorasanko Thakurbari, Kolkata.
  • Musical students below the age of 19 [nineteen] years as on November 6,2025 i.e born on or after December 2,2008 can only participate.
  • On the date of the competition age proof like birth certificate/ passport/ admit card/certificate issued by Board/Universities etc is required to be produced.
  • Tabla accompaniment is allowed in case of vocal and instrument while in case of percussion, harmonium/sarangi may be used. Electronic/manual tanpura may be used but harmonium is not allowed in case of vocal recital.
  • Candidates who will use the table/harmonium of the Parishad will have to pay Rs.300/-[Rs. Three hundred only]. The amount will heave to be paid at the time of reporting on the day of the competition at the venue.
  • Candidates will have to report at the venue at 1.00 p.m. on the day of their respective event.
  • The completion will be held in two phases- in the primary round candidates will have to perform for 10 minutes and based on their performances 5[five] competitors will be selected by the judges for the final round. In the final round, too, candidates will have to play/ sing for 10 minutes but the raga/taal [as the case may be] must be different from the raga/taal they would sing/play in the primary round.
  • Winner, runners up and third position holder of each section will be awarded Rs.40,000/-, Rs.20,000/- and Rs.10,000/- respectively.
  • In the primary and final round(s) Judges will have the right to ask any candidate to stop before
  • the schedule 10 minutes and/or to continue beyond the stipulated 10 minutes time.
  • During the entire competition the candidates will not be allowed to speak/consult with any other candidate/person so that ideal ambience may be maintained.
  • The decision of the judges regarding each aspect of the competition is final and same cannot be contested.
  • Candidates or any person related to them will not be allowed to speak to any Judge(s) unless the Judge himself/herself invites anyone to share his/her opinion.
  • Only winners [1st position] of the previous version(s) of Medha Anneswan are not eligible to participate in that particular section of the ensuing competition.
  • Sutanuti Parishad Chorebagan is known for creating an ideal ambience conjugal to quality music and candidates & their guardians are expected to extend their support to maintain the same.
  • Last date of submitting application is November 29 th ,2026 or such earlier date as the committee will decide.
